Spring 2016 Mt Rogers: What we may see if we keep our eyes open!

I stumbled on 3 little clumps of Vanilla Lily yesterday.
They are near the boulders/rocks where Flemming & I planted Dianella  several years ago.

Two are solo plants which makes me wonder how on earth they arrived there. Have the bulbs been dormant for decades? Should I have found them years ago?

I'm spurred on to go to other reserves and areas to see what else is flowering and might previously have been cryptic.

The Frogmouths are higher on their nests now. I wonder if there are more than 3 nests and other pairs laugh at us as we walk past unseeing!

There's also a crop of Wild Sage (Salvia verbenaca) coming on in case you wonder about the name of a purplish flower widespread this year.
